Literary Criticism

You can find critiques, analysis, interpretations, and evaluations of literature in many places. Journal articles, book chapters, and other resources provide access to literary criticism. Some of the best ways to find literary criticism are:

Literature Criticism Series

Nineteenth-Century Literature Criticism (NCLC)
Call Number: REF PN 761. N5
Multi-volume resource containing literary criticism about authors who died between 1800 and 1899. For each author, there is biographical information (including major works) and criticisms that have been written about that author’s works. Every fourth volume focuses on various literary topics, such as anti-apartheid literature, the new humanists, etc. Cumulative author, nationality, title, and topic indexes. (Writers may appear in more than one volume)

Published on an on-going basis, these series provide collected literary criticism and can be browsed in the library's reference room.

Multi-volume resource providing literary criticism on Shakespeare’s plays, poetry, costume and set design, and the authorship controversy.
