Searching for Materials in the OhioLINK Catalog

To start a book search, click on the "Magenta Search" box on the library's main page:

Magenta Search

It will take you to Magenta Search, where you can easily find books and eBooks in our catalog, as well as books and eBooks in OhioLink.

To get the best results, make sure you log into Magenta Search using your Microsoft 365 credentials on the upper right side of the webpage.

Type your search terms into the search bar and choose "OhioLINK Catalog" from the drop-down menu and click the magnifying glass to initiate the search.

Click on the title of a book that you want to learn more about. Most books will have a description that will help you decide if it might be a good book for your research. Sometimes the description will include chapter titles.

If you want to further refine your search, use the limiters on the left side of the page.

For hard copy books:

  • To request a copy from OhioLINK, click "check for available services" at the top of the page, under the title, or look at the blue-grey box further down the page.

  • If a book is available (it won't be available if checked out already or if it cannot be loaned through OhioLINK), the box will tell you the "terms" of the loan. Most OhioLINK books will say "Get a physical copy. Delivered in 7 days. Keep it for 42 days." OhioLINK books might arrive sooner than 7 days, but it is not guaranteed.

  • To request the book, click "Get it."
  • The form will populate for picking up the book at our library. Please note: If you are an online graduate student, please indicate that in the NOTE field.

  • You are welcome to fill in the "not needed after" line, but it is not required--just keep in mind this is not an overnight service.
  • Click "SEND" and when the book is in, you will receive an email.
  • Simply pick up the book at the Welcome Center--bring your ID so we can verify your identity.

For eBooks:

If a book is an eBook, it will say "Available Online."

The link will be available under the "View Online" section of the page.

Please don't hesitate to use the library's chat function for assistance. You can also ask for help at the library's Welcome Center.
