We all know that the cost of books has gone up in recent years, but it can be difficult to appreciate just how much they have gone up. As of 2015, textbook prices had increased 1,041 Percent Since 1977, outpacing inflation significantly.

According to a 2016 survey, more than half of college students are spending over $300 in books for a semester. 

Research from 2016 shows that when students can't afford a textbook, they don't buy it. And when they don't buy it, they are more likely to take fewer classes, drop a course, or do poorly in a course.
