What is OhioLINK?

OhioLINK allows us to share materials with other libraries across Ohio.

121 academic libraries are full members of OhioLINK. These libraries are distributed among 93 different Ohio colleges and universities. OhioLINK membership includes the State Library of Ohio, 16 public university libraries, 52 independent college libraries, 23 two-year college libraries, 16 branch campus libraries, 8 law school libraries and 5 medical school libraries.

Together, OhioLINK, the Ohio Library and Information Network, and its member libraries provide access to:

  • over 55 million books and other library materials
  • more than 300 electronic research databases
  • over 33 million electronic journal articles
  • over 500,000 e-books
  • nearly 85,000 images, videos and sounds
  • over 100,000 theses and dissertations from Ohio students at 31 Ohio institutions

How do I get an item from OhioLINK?

Search the OhioLINK catalog or Muskie Scholar for keywords, subjects, titles, and authors.


When you find a book you would like to request, click the Request button.

Choose Muskingum University as your school:

Enter your information when prompted. Be sure to use the barcode number on the back of your ID that begins with 2815...

How do I know when my OhioLINK book is in?

We'll send a message to your Muskingum email account when your items arrive.

You can also track the progress of your items by using the My Account link in the Muskingum Catalog.

  • Enter your name and barcode.
  • Click the button labeled 'Requests.'

In the status column, you may see several terms:

  • Requested - You have requested the item, but it has not been processed yet.
  • In Transit - Your request has been processed and is on its way to your library.
  • Ready for Pickup - Your OPAL request has arrived
  • OhioLINK Recd - Your OhioLINK request has arrived

OhioLINK items can take 4-5 business days to arrive.

Can I check out books from other OhioLINK libraries?

Yes!

Your Muskingum ID acts as a library card at all OhioLINK member libraries. You can visit other libraries, browse their stacks, and check out their books using your ID.

Can I return my OhioLINK book to another library?

Yes! Simply drop your OhioLINK book off at any OhioLINK member library, and they'll check it in for you and return it to the appropriate place.
